A superb spring schedule of events await at King Johns Castle Limerick.
Situated at the heart of Limerick city, King Johns Castle has always been the perfect place to take in the views and learn of the history and mystery behind this wonderful city. This spring, Shannon Heritage has gone a step further and is delighted to announce a fantastic programme of fun, educational and cultural events to take place in this iconic venue.
Commencing on March 4th teachers from both primary and second level schools are invited to attend an information session from 11am to 3pm that will showcase the fantastic offerings this venue has available for educational advancement of students. Ranging from arts, crafts and historical workshops to information on our digital programme around Norman Life in Ireland there is plenty of information to be gathered at this event. To celebrate St. Patrick’s weekend, King Johns Castle will host a fun filled event for all the family on Sunday 19th March from 1 to 4pm. Activities on the day will include an interactive quiz with our castle animators, archery, art workshops with souvenir medallion making and much more.
Days later on March 21st King Johns Castle in association with RTE Lyric FM welcomes guests to a very special event celebrating European Day of Early Music with a live broadcast of Lorcan Murray's Classic Drive from King John’s Castle Visitor Centre from 1-4pm. This very special Spring Spraoi will feature live music from Kathleen Loughnane (harp), The Gregory Walkers, medieval violin player Michelle O'Connor along with a range of fascinating characters from the period including medieval knights and jesters, archery, art workshops for the kids and more.
Mothers Day’s is fast approaching and if you are seeking something alternative to do with your Mum why not join us for Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea in our Courtyard Café at King Johns Castle. Overlooking the castle’s stunning courtyard, Mum’s and their family can enjoy a delicious array of sweet and savoury treats, take in a visit through our stunning exhibition centre and wash it all down with a glass of bubbly! Easter will not go unmarked at King Johns Castle either with a colourful Mad Hatters Easter Fun and Games planned for Easter Sunday 16th April from 12pm to 4pm. A wonderful opportunity to expose your silly side and dress up for Easter. Show off your creative skills in our Easter Bonnet Making competition or participate in a whole range of family fun workshops and games.
Looking for something to entertain the kids over the Easter Midterm? King Johns Castle is delighted once again to host it Easter Midterm activity camps. Ideal for children aged 7 and over Medieval Mayhem is the theme of this year's camp where children will enjoy medieval arts and crafts, medallion making, archery, medieval treasure trail through the castle grounds and a magical medieval easter egg hunt. Running April 18th to 21st this is a wonderful way for children to learn lots of new skills, have fun
