Come and Experience A Celebration of All Things Irish!
St. Patrick will make a special guest appearance at Bunratty Castle and Folk Park on St. Patrick’s Day from 1.00 pm until 5.00 pm and plans to bring along snakes for people to get up close and personal. St Patrick will be accompanied by his merry band of Leprechauns.
In an event to give people another entertainment choice to enjoy after their local parade finishes, a fun filled programme of activities and events has been organised for the afternoon at Bunratty. The village school at the Folk Park will be the only school in Ireland to be open for lessons on St. Patrick’s Day. But the organisers guarantee that all students attending school that day in the Folk Park’s replica schoolhouse will be voluntary.
To mark the national holiday the village school teacher will give fun Irish language classes at the 19th century themed school house. There will be live performances by Bunratty Folk Park’s renowned Traditional Irish Night entertainers, with two shows starting at 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm. Foot tapping events have also been organised and this will include free set dancing classes and displays. Live traditional Irish music will be available on the Folk Park village street. There will also be a children’s disco and Irish themed magic show.
In addition to this, visitors will be able to enjoy a time travel journey back to the 15th century at medieval Bunratty Castle, and see what life was like in rural Ireland over 150 years ago through the many thatch cottages and exhibits at Bunratty Folk Park.
The event will run from 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm and normal admission fees to Bunratty Caslte and Folk Park will apply, with no additional cost for the St. Patrick’s Day entertainment. Family tickets will be available on the day covering admission for two adults and up to 6 children for €38.00.
